The trio of CRNA Veterans with Disabilities continues intense preparation for the upcoming Trail Orienteering Championships in Lithuania. Army Major Schreiner, Marine Sargent Pietro and Army Private Rasmussen are intensely studying to do well at the World Championships. A recent Go Live session at Saratoga Biathlon Club resulted in lots of yeahs, nos and high 5s as scenario after scenario was solved.  All are getting a little anxious, nervous and jittery…including their coach.

Thank you all who have donated to CRNA’s GFM on its website. We are almost at $6,000 for the int’l airfare for all…Your support in invaluable and so appreciated.

Army Major Curtis Schreiner (Hadley, NY) and Marine Sargent Matthew Pietro (Glens Falls, NY) recently met with CRNA President Russ Myer to train in earnest for the upcoming IOF Trail Orienteering  WCH in Lithuania this coming July. Trail O is different in that the athletes do not enter the woods but stay on trails viewing a cluster of O controls from a distance and with the use of the O map and compass select the “Right” control from a group-usually 3-5.

Army Private Christ Rasmussen (Casper, WY) will be joining Russ, Matt and Curtis in Albany prior to leaving for the flight from JFK to Vilnius, Lithuania. As CRNA cannot cover Int’l airfare, CRNA has a GoFundMe to raise funds for int’l airfare only. CRNA is covering all other expenses via its VA grant.  Please donate generously to CRNA GFM  so the three veterans can represent their country at the Trail O champs!

Both the shooting and skiing were intense as CRNA President Russ Myer lead a day full of ParaNordic at Adaptive Sports Foundation at Windham, NY. Participants came from as far away as NY City to sharpen their biathlon shooting and XC skiing.

The shooting drills and competition were fierce as all shot high scores. XC skiing was just as good with all quickly picking up on the components of classical skiing and taking off!!! WOW.

BIG Thanks to both Pam Greene from ASF and Kristen Garraghan from the Mt for making all happen so seamlessly….Woot, Woot

CRNA’s current programming at Hackett Middle School in Albany, NY combined two of its 4 Nordic Sports for a wild afternoon using what snow was left for a wild and exciting Snowshoe Orienteering. Youth in the Extended Day Program who have been participating in the program got to try both sports in one. Some had never tried one or the other sports so combining Orienteering and Snowshoeing produced a lot of laughter and excitement as controls were located on snowshoes…all walked like ducks and a few even quacked like ducks!

Look for a collaborative map and trip to Lincoln Park for the final orienteering event of the yr!
