CRNA held a Paralympic Biathlon Clinic for Adaptive Sports Foundation and its Wounded Warrior Program at Burden Lake in Averill Park Sat, August 8. Russ and Rebecca Myer provided an Audio Biathlon Unit and SkiErg (grant from Advocare) to highlight both the power endurance component and element of marksmanship during the afternoon dinner time. 30+ vets and families took part in the clinic with many thoughtful ?s asked along with many “Cleaned” targets. Well first there was no snow, then too cold…today we did it…snowshoe soccer at Hackett Middle School in Albany, NY. 8 soccer enthusiasts braved a little cold to put the biscuit in the basket…with DION snowshoes on. Two teams were selected with sportsmanship the rule….the final of 3-1 paled in comparison to all the fun everyone had trying to pass and shoot a soccer ball with snowshoes on.
A big thank you to fellow CRNA snowshoe/trail run lead Tom Wright , who played goalie and was peppered with about 20,000 shots on goal…..as well as Albany PAL for supplying the snowshoes
A great event with more to come!!!!!

Tom Wright, CRNA’s snowshoe and trail running sport leader, coordinated a breakthrough Snowshoe fundraiser at Hilltop Orchard/Nordic Center on January 18, 2015. 57 athletes came out and competed in a rainy 5K event. Rebecca Myer and Paul Burt did a great job in registration and timing , while John Vittori and Dave Martel were their usual welcoming, super friendly and accommodating Hilltop Hosts.
Ross and Ashley Kraus were top male and female racers with everyone loving the hard packed wide snowshoe trails. It is important to note that none of the 57 racers stepped on the XC ski tracks on the left side of the trails….thank you!!!
More great times to follow
Tom Wright and Russ Myer
