Russ Myer, International Biathlon Union International Referee and International Paralympic Committee Classifier helped Casper MT Biathlon Club’s early winter Nordic camp succeed beyond all expectations the week of  Nov 14-19, 2014 at the Casper Nordic Center.  Russ helped with sit ski and pole fitting, both PSIA standing and sitting ski technique as well as specific and very unique athlete issues, conundrums and  dilemmas.

Russ also set up and maintained the biathlon range for the camp, working with coach Rob Rosser to solve electronic and technology related issues to targets and timing system.

Russ thanks Rob and Cathy Rosser (and Carson) for their kind home hospitality and  the Wyoming National Guard, Eddy, James and Harry for invaluable help.  A learning experience that will help Russ and CRNA serve its Paralympic athletes just as well.

Thank you to Lenny Ricchiuti, PAL Executive Director and Will Chapple, PAL program Director for their support in making the new program at North Albany Academy become a reality.

The weather was cold and raining but as Abby demonstrates with her apple and cider doughnut in our featured picture, all was sweet for the Sweet Cider Flow 5K at Goold Orchards. The cast of runners, walkers, joggers, both young and old enjoyed the course, CRNA MUG , as well as the treats afterwards as the season and its gifts were celebrated in Goold’s apple and wine tasting room.

As always, a HUGE thank you goes to Sue Goold and her staff for hosting CRNA and year #2 of the Sweet Cider Flow. CRNA made over $200 for its programming for those with special needs and with disabilities in the capital region and beyond.  CRNA will start its second year with Albany PAL as well as with the US Paralympic Nordic program…we thank you all who came out to make the day so special

Russ and friends!

The day was perfect, the weather was perfect, and Sue Goold from Goold Orchards once again was a gracious hostess, inviting CRNA to demonstrate its paintball biathlon to those coming out to pick apples and try Goold’s famous apple cider and doughnuts. CRNA made over $250 in just a few hours having the crowd give it a try, shooting either the traditional biathlon circles or its cartoon board. Many families tried the sport with 5 families returning for a second round…so appreciated.  Proceeds go to CRNA’s programming for those with special needs/disabilities such as Albany PAL, Liberty Partnerships, Sunnyview Rehab Hospital, and US Paralympic Nordic

CRNA thanks Sue, Karen Gardy and their staff for the inclusion in the day’s festivities!!!

Russ Myer from CRNA and a member of the ToKo Nordic Tech Team, made the trek from Albany to Olic City PA to provide a day long ToKo Nordic clinic to Sun Valley Nordic and The Friends of Oil Creek State Park in Oil City PA. Russ worked with John and Peg Sims in providing a comprehensive clinic not only on waxing but preparing for the season in terms of training, apparel, equipment and nutrition. A max crowd of 35 registrants packed the park amphitheater from 9 to 3PM to listen, ask a lot of questions and have the “low” wax skis prepped for the winter.

Since the November clinic, NW PA has received a lot of snow permitting John Sims and his grooming equipment to make wonderful groomed trails!  Oil Creek State Park is one of the best in the country. If you are in the area, please stop by and enjoy!

Well,  the Goold orchards/Brookview Station Winery run this past Summer was a great event which included a 34th wedding anniversary!  Well, many of the runners asked for a 2nd run so on 10/26/13, CRNA and Goold Orchards/Brookview Station Winery will host  the Sweet Cider Flow 5K and1mile fun run, replicating the course from the first event earlier this summer, albeit  better marked!

Come on out and smell the leaves, hear the leaves crunch under your feet, and taste the very best Goold’s has to offer!
