CRNA Leader Participates in Int’l Biathlon Competition

03 Apr 2014

Twenty nine years after the thought of competing internationally, then raising two children, Russ Myer, CRNA president finally had his dream come true…international competition in biathlon. Russ competed in the 17th International Masters Biathlon Championships in Kontiolahti, Finland.  Kontiolahti is located 14KM from Jensuu, FI, which is 28 KM from the Russian border.

Russ competed in three events: the sprint (3-1), relay with fellow New Yorker Art Stegen and New Jersey native Brian Weighaus (0-0-two extra in standing ) and the individual (1-1-0-2)

PLus Russ got to try the famous Finnish followed by a dip in a mostly frozen lake….the longest stretch was 35 seconds-way long enough for Russ. The stay was more than memorable. Wonderfully gracious and hospitable hosts, fine Finnish food, and fullfilling that dream of a major international competition….

The Finnish sunset is as good as it gets!
