Russ Myer, Nick and Cindy Gretzinger were among those that supported a successful Adaptive Biathlon event at the 2013 Winter Empire State Games held in Lake Placid, NY this past Sunday. Fellow CRNA Club member and US Paralympian, Goose Perez competed and medaled in the event which included 4 shooting bouts. Goose shot 16/20!
Russ served as chief of range, constructing the range to IPC/IBU standards for both pellet and visually impaired athletes. Des
pite the able bodied event
being cancelled, the US Paralympic Nordic staff selected an area for the range at the XC ski stadium. Russ and other staff set up the range prepping it for both classical and skating training sessions. US Paralympic staff worked with ORDA and other agencies to have the event and the week's biathlon clinic be very successful
for all concerned
All look forward to the event hosting even more disabled athletes next year!!
